If ANet wouldn't mind sharing a little power, I'd enjoy (I have a part-time devious mind) hunting down and banning those accounts myself for a half-hour/hour every evening or two.
Shoot, I'd do it for free, just to keep this game from being Diablo-ized.
Alex, Gaile... you reading this?

they are called botters ... they farm cash and sell it for real life money like ige ... I see them in tombs now too ... just spamming away like every 45 seconds ... I am act5ually surprised that Anet is losing the bot battle (imo Alex) to these guys. Especially after there last interview about farming. I am sure Anet will eventually gain the upper hand in this bot battle, but in the mean time its unfortunate that the community has to put up with these marketers ... next step we will see porn ads and then pow, game over.
If you catch them spamming it just take a screenshot and send it to Anet, they will ban there accounts.
for example ... I saw virgoods.com spamming with a guy named "bot one two" kinda gives it away in his name, but i never screen capped it because I had more important thing to attend to ... (1 handed healing random pugs thrpugh thunderhead keep ... a challenge set by my guild to me) *chuckle*

It would be nice if distracting shot worked on spambots in town. Although I'd never get anything else done...

You'd think they'd but an internal chat filter on to flag certain words and characters, like "virgoods" and "$," then send a CSR right to the scene of the crime to inspect.

Distracting Shot doesn't work on shouts. Arcane Theivery is a much better choice in that situation.
Anyways, I hope A-net thinks of a solution before this gets out of hand.

The truely sad thing is, for them to have a service like this, and create all those accounts to do in-game advertising, they actually have to have a decent sized clientelle. I will never, ever, understand why someone would pay real money, for game money/eq that is FREE! The only thing you have to spend to get it is time. If these people buying this stuff have that much money to throw away, throw a little to your left so I can grab some. I'm sure I can find a helluva lot better ways to spend it.

Time is money. 1h = 10$ for most, 1h = 200$ for some. "Time" (better the work you can do in this amount of time) is the most important thing, oil is nothing more then liquid "time" (or better work).
So let me make a calculation:
UAS costs from 300 (the amount of mindless grind hours)*10$ (the amount you could make "grinding" at some medicore job) = 3000$ to 3000*10$ if you would do an MCJob instead. Buying a fully unlocked account for 500$ leaves you with 2500$ profit AT WORST.
Note that even in places with few jobs, time can still be spend to search for good deals, lowered prices, good insurance or just education, which increases your chances to get a better job.

How to report a violation.. OFFICIAL...
Quote:
If you encounter any players who you believe violate our guidelines with inappropriate actions, vulgar language, offensive character or guild names, advertising of cheats or exploits, or any breaches of our End User License Agreement (EULA) or Rules of Conduct, we'd like to know about it. Please note the details of the situation and use our online help tool's "Ask a Question" form at http://support.guildwars.com to send us details of the violation.
Here are some examples of violation details that you should send along with your report:
The name of the character being reported
The name of the character you were playing at the time of the encounter
The time of the incident (with time zone)
The name of the map zone where the incident took place (or even the location within the zone)
A description of the offending action, dialogue, or name
Any other details that you feel are relevant
We will use the information you have provided to investigate whether a violation of the rules has occurred. If we do find any rules have been broken, we will take action.
However, due to our Privacy Policy (http://www.guildwars.com/privacy.html), we will not be able to provide you with any details of the investigation. This means that we will not be able to confirm if any action was, or was not, taken. Lastly. add them to your friends list.. I know like Why would I do that right? well its nice to see when they ban the account, as the current privacy policy prevents them telling you if they actually did so. but when you see their account change to (BANNED)... guess what? you just got a confirmation...
Thanks for helping keep the community free of RoC breakers...

Basically you summed it up right there... people buy gold off eBay and companies like this made spammer since not everyone has all the time in the world.
I for example work 40 hours a week, leaving me about 2 hours to play the game if I'm lucky... so based on the fact it would take 300 hours to get all skills unlocked that means it would take me about 150 days of playing this game every day for 2 hours to unlock it. This isn't taking mindless farming, PvP/GvG and PvE into account as well.
I hate how people say... "Why buy gold? Just farm"... not everyone is unemployeed, in school, able to play at work, or just plain has more free time then others.
I have little gold in this game since I don't have 6 free hours a day to farm for items to sell... and I have a life
So while I do agree that buying gold is now against the rules and wrong... I think I understand why people buy it... afterall some of us have better things to do in our time then play this game 16 hours a day.

he said that they didn't deliver the money. he still seems to have his account though.
